Help Your Family LOVE to MOVE!
As warm and cold temperatures arm wrestle for dominance through the early spring months keeping active can be a challenge for families. In order to inspire our children to grow into humans that love to move, let’s meet them in their passions! As the year go on, they will associate movement as fun, not punishment. Here are some fun activities that might spark fun ideas for the whole family...

DIY Twister: Get Creative! Organize playing cards on a rug like a “Twister mat” Ace, King, Queen, Jack vertically by suit – take turns “touch a King” or “reach for a heart!” -- or do a quick scavenger hunt for things that are four different colors or shapes and organize them in vertical columns – I'm sure your artist has a big imagination!
Obstacle Course: Each family member collect items from around the house to jump from, balance on, crawl through, duck under... you!
Family Dance Party! Put on your favorite playlist and shake it!
The Gamer: Fortnight Dance Challenge:

The Floor is Lava: Can you keep moving while stepping on ANYTHING other than the floor?
Keep Up: Blow up a balloon for every family member see if you can keep all the balloons in the air! Add challenges: add an extra balloon, “1,2,3” -everyone has to hit the balloon to another random family member, do exercises (burpee or jumping jacks, etc) before the balloon hits the ground.
Paper Plate “Sliders”:
Check out the Paper Plate Sliders video!
Hide and Seek: Play a game of traditional Hide & Seek!
Charades Animal Edition: One family member thinks of an animal and moves like the animal for 1 minute... when other family members know what animal it is, they join in for the remaining time! Can you think of 12 animals??
Scavenger Hunt with clues and movement: “Go to the place you can find a healthy snack” (fruit drawer) - Inside is a movement “Do 25 jumping jacks” “Where I go where I need hammer”
ACT 4!: Act out your favorite book in 4 parts: After Each Act do this intermission circuit: 25 Squats, 10 Push Ups, 25 Skaters, 10 Crab Walks – time each one to see if you can do it faster!
Remember movement is movement. You don’t need a coach or a plan – tap into what you kids love and most of all – Your kids want to be with and look up to YOU. Have fun! Laughter, family, and movement are medicine for us all.
