YMCA of Greater Omaha, established in 1866, is a 501 C 3 not for profit organization that is governed by a volunteer board of directors with a geographic scope that covers four counties in a two-state area: Douglas and Sarpy Counties in Nebraska; and Mills and Pottawattamie Counties in Iowa.
At the YMCA of Greater Omaha, strengthening community is our cause. We make life-changing impact to the children, adults and families we serve through programs that focus on three key areas: youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
The Y provides a variety of programs that support educational achievement, alternatives to teen violence, health/wellness, chronic disease intervention, child care, summer day camp, water safety, homework help, special needs integration and family programs.
As an organization, we strive to understand our community needs. We provide services and programs that cater specifically to the issues our children, families and neighborhoods face. Through crucial partnerships with over 150 not-for-profit agencies, schools and organizations we are working hard to reach as many people as possible and making a lasting difference.
The Y is open to all people regardless of their ability to pay for programs and services, and as a result we provided over $1.7 million in financial assistance in 2016. By investing in our kids, our health and our neighbors, the YMCA of Greater Omaha ensures that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to thrive—thereby strengthening our community.
The YMCA of Greater Omaha relies on the time and talents of many volunteers to fulfill its mission to strengthen communities through healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
With over 150 years in the greater Omaha area, we work side-by-side with our neighbors every day to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
MAKE A GIFT
Last year the YMCA of Greater Omaha provided over 2.4 million in direct financial assistance for childcare, camp, youth sports, health & well-being programs and Y membership. Donors like you are truly the backbone, the strength that allows us to serve in the ways that we do. Please consider a life-impacting gift today.
The Y has served in times of need, from the early days of racial equality efforts, through the turmoil and despair of war, and even providing community service through global pandemics. We’ve been there with sports, camps, exercise, weight loss, disease prevention, education and more, and with your support, the Y will continue to serve our staff, members and community into the future. We thank you for your continued support!
