Shoot, Hoop, Score: Grow with Youth Sports
When your child plays youth sports at the YMCA of Greater Omaha, they’re stepping into something bigger than the game. They’ll practice new skills, try new challenges, and discover how fun it feels to move, play, and grow together.

Healthy Bodies, Happy Kids
Youth sports are a fun way to keep kids active. Running, dribbling, passing, and shooting all help build strength, coordination, and endurance. Most importantly, kids learn that moving their bodies feels good—creating healthy habits that last long after the final buzzer.

Confidence That Carries Beyond the Court
Every new skill and every cheer from the sidelines builds confidence! Kids discover the joy of setting goals, working hard, and celebrating progress—lessons in resilience they’ll carry into school, friendships, and everyday life.

Teamwork and Friendship
On the court, no one plays alone. Youth sports teach kids to encourage one another, celebrate every win—big or small—and lift each other up after a tough play. These lessons strengthen their ability to connect and collaborate well beyond the season.

Learning from the Coach’s Playbook
Our volunteer coaches do more than teach the fundamentals of the sport—they guide, encourage, and support growth. By listening, following directions, and trying new approaches, kids learn how to apply feedback, adjust, and celebrate progress together.

Consistency is Key
Youth sports gives kids a rhythm they can count on—practices, games, and time with teammates—while still leaving room for imagination and play. This balance helps them feel secure, build responsibility, experience the joy of committing to something they love, and how to show up for one another.

Character and Sportsmanship
At the Y, winning is never the only goal. We emphasize respect, honesty, and responsibility. Our players learn what it means to play fair, handle setbacks with grace, and lift others up—a foundation of character that shapes not just athletes, but good citizens and friends.

A Place to Belong
When your child joins youth sports at the Y, they’re joining more than a team. They’re becoming part of a community where kids feel supported, families feel connected, and everyone is welcome.

Because at the Y, it’s not just about the game—it’s about growing strong in spirit, mind, and body.

Registration for the fall youth basketball season is now open! Give your child a shot to score new skills, meet new friends, and make memories.
