Blair Family YMCA and YMCA of Greater Omaha Announce Strategic Alliance

OMAHA, NE (July 9th, 2025) – The Blair Family YMCA and the YMCA of Greater Omaha are pleased to announce their official strategic alliance, following eight months of successful collaboration under a management agreement. Both the Blair Family YMCA Board of Directors and the YMCA of Greater Omaha Board of Directors independently and unanimously voted in favor of the Blair Family YMCA becoming a part of the YMCA of Greater Omaha. This decision reflects a shared commitment to expanding the Y’s impact in Washington County while continuing to prioritize a strong local presence and focus.

Since entering into the management agreement in November 2024, the YMCA of Greater Omaha has provided operational leadership in areas such as property, marketing, membership, program development, and staff support to ensure the Blair Family YMCA’s continued success. The YMCA of Greater Omaha reestablished vital swimming lesson programing and invested in facility maintenance, including air conditioning enhancements. During this time, YMCA of Greater Omaha President and CEO Rebecca Deterding has worked closely with Blair’s board, staff, and volunteers to foster stability, build capacity, and explore future growth opportunities. The Blair’s board includes impactful community volunteers including Travis Radnor (Board Chair), Paige Anderson, Jen Daggett, David Drew, Eric Filipi, Nick Hall, Dave Ladwig, Micheala Matzen, Luke Meyer, Mikki Mullally & Chris Rhoades, whose leadership has been instrumental in the Y continuing service in the community.

“This decision represents an exciting new chapter for the Blair Family YMCA,” said Deterding. “By combining our organizations, we are creating a stronger, more sustainable Y that will continue to serve the unique needs of the Blair community for generations to come. Together, we can deliver even greater programs, services, and opportunities to help kids, families, and individuals thrive.”

The strategic alliance will allow the Blair Family YMCA to benefit from the resources, systems, and expertise of the larger YMCA of Greater Omaha association, while honoring donor intent and ensuring that funds raised in Blair stay in Blair to meet the community’s specific needs. Members and program participants can expect continued access to the Blair facility, staff, and services they know and trust.

This announcement marks the beginning of the formal strategic alliance process, with additional details to be shared in August.
